**IMPORTANT UPDATE: At its June 4, 2026 meeting, the PNB passed the motion (below) harmonizing across the 5 network stations a process to potentially grant membership to those wishing to become a listener-sponsor member but lacking the ability to pay the $25 minimum fee or volunteer the minimum 3 hours to become members.

Governance Committee Motion on Waiver Process for Membership
 
Whereas, Article Three, Section 4 of the Pacifica Bylaws authorizes the Board of Directors, in its discretion, to adjust or waive the Listener-Sponsor Membership contribution requirement on a case-by-case basis for reasons of financial hardship;
 
And whereas, the Board seeks to administer waiver requests in an orderly, fair, and consistent manner;
 
Therefore, be it resolved that:
 
1.      All membership waiver applications must be submitted by applicants by email to the PNB Secretary (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) with the Subject Line: “WAIVER REQUEST” before the record date for membership, in years when an election or referendum is held.
2.      In 2026, the PNB Chair and PNB Secretary will designate one Director from each station, subject to their acceptance, to serve with the PNB Chair and PNB Secretary to approve no more than 5 waivers per station based on order of submission and grounds for the request.    
3.      The Board will grant no more than five (5) membership waivers for each of the Pacifica radio stations per voting session.
4.      Adoption of this policy does not create any right, entitlement, or expectation that a waiver will be granted.
